Notice
The UCLA Encyclopedia of Egyptology (UEE) is currently under development.
All of the articles remain available through the UEE repository at eScholarship. Sign up for the UEE mailing list here to be notified when the new version of the interactive site is launched.
The UEE was established with two grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities (in 2008 and 2010). Since then all work by authors, reviewers, and editors is done on a strictly voluntary basis. There are, however, still considerable costs that need to be covered, to make the UEE a freely available and accessible resource. Donations can be made at the following link and you can learn more about the costs associated with this resource here.
The UCLA Encyclopedia of Egyptology is an international cooperative project to provide high quality peer reviewed information on ancient Egypt. It is a resource in development and steadily growing collection of high quality articles, written in jargon-free language. Articles are written by the world’s leading Egyptologists and are all peer reviewed before being published. They provide in-depth information, relevant illustrations, and an overview of recent literature. When an article is updated, the older version will always remain available in the repository with the same stable URL. UEE articles can, therefore, be quoted as any other scholarly publication.
